Personal Project News

 

The personal project is a student-driven project, that happens in the last year of the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Students choose a topic to explore and are challenged to learn new skills/knowledge that they showcase through the creation of a product or outcome.

The personal project experience helps students develop the attributes of the learner profile and develop real-world skills that are valued by employers such as:

  1. Communication skills through the construction of a professional report of approximately 15 pages and conducting primary source interviews with professional members of the community.
  2. Learning the art of self-management through the construction of a detailed time management plan that measures the success of their achievements and is reflective in nature. 
  3. Information and media literacy through researching their topic and evaluating the reliability of their sources.
  4. Critical and Creative thinking through evaluating the success of their learning and their product against criteria and thinking creatively to establish a topic and solve problems.
  5. Social skills through collaborating with their mentor and peers.
