Learning and Teaching Update

Welcome back to you!

What a delight it is to see all the students back together again learning in their classrooms. It is so great to hear the chatter in our school again.

On Monday February 22nd from 1:30pm, we will be holding Parent-Teacher Interviews. Our interviews will be held online via the platform Google Meet. The Google Meet link and your scheduled time for the day will be communicated closer to the day.

Please be reminded that students will be dismissed at 1pm on this day. Extend will be available from 1pm for families who require.

Parent Information Nights will look different this year! They will be in a digital format and more information to come. Please check Dojo or our next newsletter.

Looking forward to working with you all this year. Have a great week.

Wellbeing / Behaviour Update

Welcome back to all our families for what felt like a much more normal morning compared to what we experienced last year. It was great to see our parents able to come into the school grounds for the first time in almost 12 months.

As Wellbeing leader I'd like to update you on some information regarding Wellbeing support for our students at the beginning and throughout 2021.

- Over the holidays, we officially partnered with The Resilience Project to compliment our Social and Emotional learning and teaching. As a resilience project school our staff will participate in some professional learning on Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness and unpack the Resilience Project resources and lessons. This will take place as part of our School Closure Day for Wellbeing and Behaviour Professional Development on Monday the 15th of February. This will allow teachers to effectively use the Resilience Project curriculum for Prep - 6. Each student will have their own Resilience Project diary for fortnightly lessons complimenting our Social and Emotional curriculum.

- We have booked a Cyber Safety program with Inform and Empower which includes an incursion for all levels in the school, date to be confirmed, and a live webinar for parents that will be held on Monday February the 8th at 7:30pm. Parents will need to register for their online seat from the link below:

www.bit.ly/hsringwoodnth

There will be a recording available/sent to all those who register regardless if you are attending the live stream, so I highly recommend all parents register for the webinar regardless if you are available to watch live or not. Information Flier PDF here:

- For Term 1 at least, there will be extra supervision on the play ground with an additional staff member supervising play, including an oval referee for sports games such as AFL / soccer.- New and returning 'clubs', now called indoor sessions will be available to our students from Week 3. These include: Choir, Garden, Lego in Library and the beginning of 2 new opportunities with Mindfulness sessions in Performing Arts room and Chess/Board Games sessions in Multimedia lab. In Term 2, Mindfulness sessions will change to begin a Dance session and Chess/Board game session will change to a Coding session. All sessions are structured with a supervising teacher. This means that each day there is an opportunity for indoor structures activities during Lunchtime. More information such as a timetable and detailed information regarding these indoor activities will be available soon.

- STAR school values, Positive Behaviour, Ice breaking and team bonding lessons will be a major focus to integrate our students into their new classroom environment over the next week. If you have any questions feel free to email me at blannen@hsringwoodnth.catholic.edu.au

All the best for the year ahead,
