SOPHIE SMASHES ANOTHER RECORD

At the recent South Gippsland swimming sports, Sophie broke a record that has stood since 1989.

The new record is 37.09, while the previous record was 40.10 held for 31 years by Miquel Atkinson of Wonthaggi Secondary College.

A previous student of KSC, Nick Patterson, also featured on the day as two of his records were broken, both by Josh Wight of LSC.

Congratulations to Sophie who was also the age group champion for the U16 female level.

She will compete in 5 events on Thursday at the Gippsland finals along with other KSC students.

GIPPSLAND SWIMMING FINALS

Three of our students medaled at the SSV swimming finals in Warragul on Thursday 12th March. Tom Sherar swam in three events and placed third in breastroke. Owen Jones won the open 100m Breastroke and 2nd in 50m breastroke for a PB. While Sophie again broke another record in the 50m breastroke with a convincing win. It came down to the touch for the open 100m breastroke with Sophie missing out on the win by .02 of a second, with both 1st and 2nd place getters breaking the record in a great race. Sophie also won the 50m butterfly, 2nd in the backstroke and 2nd in the IM.

Sophie and Owen will be heading to the State finals.
