Diversity in McKay House Moments

Last week we held our final Diversity activities as part of the Term 3 Round Square Diversity focus.

The focus for Assembly was LOTE – Languages Other Than English and we had very capable classes present their Japanese and French learnings. To further support this in McKay we had a number of staff and students share their language expertise with our McKay students.

Rene Taylor and Delisha Malthouse led our Year 7’s with Arrernte common words and phrases. The amazing Polly took our Year 8 Tutor Group through a Zimbabwe experience with Chilapalapa. In Year 9 we had our capable College Captain, Alethea Fernandes share some of her Spanish knowledge.

Our Year 10’s were delighted with a Dutch/German combination lesson from Mr Rod Diehl which had much laughter from around the room.

We are very fortunate to have such a wealth of knowledge and experience at Saints to showcase how diverse we all are and how we can all come together as a community.

We encourage our McKay community to stay safe over the holidays and have a wonderful break.
