TERM 4
Art lessons for Grades 5 and 6 have become more 'hands-on' with the introduction of Webex Lessons and Instruction on a Tuesday morning. Whilst Mr. Nunis, Mrs. Pumpa deliver their instruction on a Monday, Signora Zerella and I have been conducting interactive classes on our Specialist learning/teaching days and have been enjoying the student engagement and opportunity to share and unpack the tasks set during remote learning.
I have really enjoyed the interaction with the students, particularly during our "Draw - Along" sessions. Take a look a the images below! I am astounded by the diversity and level of skill demonstrated by the students, following instruction. We have used these sessions as a springboard for our creativity - or an imagination workout - enabling us to go away and be inspired to develop our drawing skills and creativity.
Exploring The Creatures of the Deep has given students a fantastical breadth of creative ideas. Believe it or not, these curious creatures actually survive in the dark depths of our oceans and have adapted their bodies to survive in what would be for for most creatures, an inhospitable environment. Although some would say that these creatures may be ugly, as artists, we have embraced the beauty in all things. A deep observation of the shapes and details of these creatures allows us to 'see' things with a new appreciation. Take a look at some of the drawings that were submitted last term. I would have to say, that the Blob Fish has indeed made a special place in our hearts!
Junior students have been using 'Monsters' to describe their feelings in a series of artworks that have both exercised their colouring and cutting skills in readiness for making some 3D artworks for when we return to school. Via our home learning Google Art room, we watched the story The Colour Monster and then reflected on how the Colour Monster felt and the colours that might describe his feelings. Aren't these interpretations just delightful! What colour are you feeling today?
