3K's ROCK, LEAF, STICK REFLECTION

This week in 3K we completed an activity called Rock, Stick, Leaf Reflection (thankyou to Simon Dewar from Real Schools for this fantastic tool). Students were asked to reflect on their remote learning experience as we prepare to transition back to face-to-face learning in the classroom.

Firstly, students were required to find a small stick, a rock and a leaf - while on a neighbourhood walk, exploring a local park, or even in their own backyard! Our sticks, leaves and rocks were then used to prompt personal reflection as follows:

Stick – what is something I want to stick to, or keep doing when I return to the classroom?
Rock – what is something I rocked at during remote learning and am really proud of?
Leaf – what is something I want to leave behind or let go of after remote learning?

The students enjoyed identifying aspects of their online work that were successful and aspects that they believe they can improve upon in future learning experiences.

“I rocked at staying positive during lockdown. Mum says I am a ‘glass half full’ person.” – Olive

“I’m going to leave behind getting frustrated and giving up.“ - Daniel

” I am going to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, like “If I don’t get 10 out of 10 I will try again next week!”” – Mia

“I am going to stick at asking for help and asking questions in the classroom.” - Jasper

“I want to stick at Wushka because it’s fun and it challenges me.” – Jarlie

“I want to continue doing my best and going ‘above and beyond’.” – Josh

“I am going to stick to being respectful and using my manners.” – Blake

“I will stick at doing my drawings and my best to focus on my work.” – Grace

“I rocked at my spelling tests!” – Oliver

“I am proud I can do my own work and don’t always need somebody to help me.” - Braxton.

“I rocked at Kahoots. I also think I was good at participating in class discussions.” - Jack

I am tremendously proud of all students in 3K for their resilience, positivity and continued determination over the course of the last few months. We cannot wait to get back into the classroom to continue growing and challenging ourselves!
