Directors of Students: Middle School Update

Student Services would like to welcome everyone back to school. Superlatives are hard to come by to describe the experiences of the last 15 weeks, and indeed the past 18 months. Nonetheless, we believe it is important for students and parents to recognise the great personal and academic achievements made during remote learning. Managing conflicting workloads, fixing IT issues, remaining connected to friends and taking time away from the screen were all challenges that we faced with bravery and uncertainty in equal measure. With Victoria emerging from lockdown, and schools returning, we enter what could be best described as the ‘new OK’. South Oakleigh College will be supporting students as they return to school, supporting their social and emotional wellbeing as well as the adjustment in returning to the rigors and demands of school. Teachers will support students in regaining confidence in their learning, and re-establishing relationships with the greater school community.

Director of Students: Senior School Update

We farewelled our Year 12s recently. They have now started the examination period. This is the culmination of 13 years of study for our Year 12s. They started as little eager preps in 2009 and are now finishing their final year of secondary schooling. Our farewell assembly can be viewed at https://youtu.be/0gFiK7x0_cc

And our wonderful costumes  here

I remember the Dr Seuss story ‘Oh, the Places You’ll go' and find myself reflecting on this passage:

“You have brains in your head
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
Any direction you choose
And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go”
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting
So, get on your way "

We now turn our attention to the Valedictory Dinner to be held in December. It will be held at Merrimu Receptions, 1300 Dandenong Road, Murrumbeena on Wednesday December 8th, 2021 from 6:30PM - 11:30PM. Ticket sales will open shortly via Compass.

Year 12 Study Camp

With the recent changes to the Operational Guidelines, we are now able to run our Class of 2022 Study Retreat during head start. The Camp will be held at CYC Philip Island from the 24th of Nov to the 26th of Nov. 2022 Year 12s and their families are encouraged to seek out further information from Compass NewsFeed

We look forward to seeing all our students at camp.
