Dear Parents and Carers

At the time of writing this newsletter I am sure that our school community is looking forward to the return to normality tonight with minimal COVID restrictions. Students, Parents and Staff must be congratulated for their efforts and the persistence to make it through Lockdown 6.

The current requirements at school are as follows:

Masks must be worn inside school building
All adults over the age of 18 must be vaccinated to attend any school function when permitted: this includes any church celebrations
COVID check in to Service Victoria QR Code App and School PassTab
Density limits apply to all functions held at school
More information will be sent out with the latest updates for educational organisations

November 1st Feast of All Saints.

Who are these saints past and present?

As Years 5 & 6 students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation and have selected the saints for their Confirmation name, may they also look to people who are in our daily lives.

Today's Saints are people who support, care, love, preach and live out the Word of God. We all have the power and the ability to do good for others and support others, in particular during this time that we have gone through. By living our school values of respect empathy , inclusion and excellence for those who are less fortunate than us, we too can emulate how the Saints based their lives through the Word of God and through their daily acts.

What is a Saint? The saints are followers of Christ who lived lives of holiness on earth and now share in eternal life with God. When we look at the lives of the saints, we see examples of how to live as disciples of Christ.

A Modern Day Saint. A teenage computer gamer and programmer from Italy who devoted the final years of his life to the church until his death in 2006 was recently beatified making him the first millennial to be put on the path to Catholic sainthood.

A portrait of Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia at age 15, was unveiled at the beatification ceremony at the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi in Assisi, Italy. In it, he is wearing a red polo shirt and his curly hair is ringed by a faint halo of light.

Acutis has been called the "patron saint of the Internet." He created a website to catalogue miracles and managed sites for local Catholic organizations. "Carlo used the Internet in service of the Gospel, to reach as many people as possible,'' Cardinal Agostino Vallini, the papal legate for the Assisi basilicas, said during his homily.

These two important parent school groups are in the process of seeking new representatives for their groups. If you are interested in joining them please speak to a member so that you can be nominated and then voted in at the AGM.

A reminder that all students will return to school on Wednesday 3 November and can enter via the Neerim or Grange Road gates.

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.
