School Council President

It's been a bitter-sweet week this week as our children start to return to school but we also say farewell to our Acting Assistant Principal, Jake Laurie.

Welcome back!

With the 5/6s returning today, we have seen nearly all our children back at school for at least one day this week. Don't worry 3/4s, we'll see you soon! It's been wonderful to see all the smiles on the children (and teachers) and it's not long until we'll all be back at school for five days per week. It seems like forever since we were all together, but things are starting to move quickly now.

Farewell to Jake Laurie

On behalf of the ACPS community and School Council, I'd like to thank Jake Laurie for the hard work and dedication to the school he has shown over the last 18 months.

Jake started with us just as we went in to our first lockdown early last year and it was several months until he was finally able to meet everyone in person. Such a crazy introduction might have thrown anyone else off their game, but not Jake who took it all in his stride.

Jake has been a key member of the school leadership team and a valuable contributor to the school council. He's been a constant positive force at school - for teachers, students and families alike - and his range of experience brought a new and valuable perspective to our school council's decision-making process.

Thanks for all you have done for our school Jake, and we wish you all the best in your new role as Acting Principal at Kallista Primary School. We'll miss you, but our loss is Kallista's gain.

School Council meeting

School Council met on Tuesday this week. Jake Laurie discussed the school's NAPLAN results as well as the latest guidance on COVID protocols as our children start to return to school. The council approved the Finance reports tabled by Deidre Prior as well as three school policies presented by Amanda Callaway.

I hope everyone enjoys our new freedoms and has a happy and safe weekend.
