Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we enter Week 2 of Term 4, the year is quickly getting away from us. We are well and truly into the swing of our 2022 planning processes and you can help us by completing the parent surveys sent out to email accounts over the weekend. The surveys are designed to gather feedback from parents, staff and students and will be used to inform school improvement. A link to the survey can also be found here. These survey results are completely confidential, but are vital for us in preparing for next year and beyond. The survey will only take approximately five minutes. Students in Year 4, 5 and 6 will complete the student surveys later this week.

We are also starting to prepare the 2022 classes and class structures. If you know of any families that may be interested in enrolling at Sacred Heart in 2022, please ask them to contact the school office so that we can get an enrolment pack to them. Similarly, if you know that your child will not be enrolling at Sacred Heart in 2022, please contact us ASAP.

The NSW Government roadmap earmarked today as a 70% "Freedom Day" across the state and we are very happy for our families in Gunnedah who no longer need to follow stay-at-home orders. Schools follow a different set of rules and we remain under Level 3 Restrictions. Under our Level 3 Restrictions, parents and visitors are not permitted on the school site. If you must attend the school in the case of an emergency, please ensure you sign-in via the QR code, wear your mask and only enter school at the front office. We remain hopeful of these restrictions changing throughout the term, however as it currently stands, many extra curricular activities are not possible at school. This includes school assemblies, graduation ceremonies and PTF activities. As soon as we are notified of any changes to school restrictions, families will be contacted. Due to the uncertainty of school events going ahead, a term planner has not been sent to families as yet. However, some dates have been penciled in pending COVID restrictions.

These include;

Friday 29 October - Transition Final Session and Graduation

Thursday 4 November - Public Speaking Competition (via zoom)

Saturday 27 November - Family Mass

Monday 6 December - 2022 Leadership Speeches and Semester 2 Reports available to parents

Wednesday 8 December - Presentation Assembly/Night

Wednesday 15 December - Last day of term for students

We are yet to confirm an exact date for the Year 6 Graduation Dinner as we cannot be certain this will go ahead in 2021 under current conditions.

Special mention to Mrs Roseby who celebrates her birthday on Friday. We hope you have an amazing day!

Have a great week!

Nick
