How to make fairy bread

In the past fortnight the Year 1 have engaged in a wide range of learning activities.

In writing, the students have worked on writing procedural texts. For one of the writing lessons, the teachers prepared ingredients to make fairy breads, including margarine (Nuttelex), 100s & 1000s, bread and utensils for the students. The students made the fairy breads themselves while talking through the steps with their partner, then wrote down a step-by-step recipe for “How to make fairy bread”. The students enjoyed this activity a lot (especially the eating part). 

In Math, we were working on recognising and ordering the days of the week, as well as the months of the year. The students made a February calendar and wrote down any special events that will be happening this month.
