On Monday morning at assembly the Class Leaders were presented with their badges.

Each class leader nominated themselves for the role and took on the responsibility to be actively part of the Student Representative Council /SRC at Trinity.

It was wonderful to hear that many students in all classes nominated themselves for the Class Leader position. Many thoughtful speeches were presented and each class had their election to vote for the student that would best take on the role and represent their class. Congratulations to the following students who were elected by their class peers to be Class Leader for Semester One.

In taking on the role and responsibility of being a Class Leader, students will lead a weekly class meeting. Junior students will be supported by senior students to lead their class meeting weekly and will attend the School Leaders / SRC Meeting every Monday at lunchtime in the Library.

We will include the minutes of the School’s SRC Meetings in the newsletter weekly.

As the new year starts it is an opportunity to take on new activities and challenges.  Building independence is part of growing up and going to school and helps children become more self aware and responsible.

Each class builds on this by having class responsibilities by rotating “class jobs” such as taking and collecting the office tub, collecting lunch orders, laptop monitors, recycling and library helpers. All students contribute to the classroom environment by packing up and cleaning up their learning space. Students have pride in their classroom and all learning and playing environments and all teachers will expect this from every student in every class.

It is also very important that students have responsibilities at home, and being organised for the day and bringing to school what they need will start at home.

Class teachers have distributed a class timetable and also for Library,  Specialist classes and Sport day where students are to wear their sports uniform and runners.

It is also important for families to encourage independence from now on as we end week three! Families, support your Prep student to pack their school bag,  lunch box and water bottle, hat ,satchel-  however from Year 1/2 it is encouraged (and very much expected by class teachers) that students do this for themselves…  including carrying their own school bag to the class line in the morning and home at the end of the day!!

Congratulations and well done to the Semester One Class Leaders:

I am excited to have such an enthusiastic group of students to be part of the SRC and look forward to the year ahead.
