Pancake Tuesday: Help Needed

Mr Ru Lameijn - Deputy Principal & Religious Education Leader

History of Shrove or Pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent in the Christian calendar. For Christians, Lent mirrors the biblical story of Jesus' withdrawal to the desert for 40 days. It's seen as a period of abstinence, with Christians traditionally giving something up for the entire period. That's why Shrove Tuesday became a day of indulgence, with observers having as much fun and eating as many delicious things as they could before embarking on a strict period of discipline for Lent.

Shrove Tuesday 2023 at Trinity

This year, we will have a pancake breakfast. On Tuesday next week, we will open the gates earlier (between 8am and 8.15am) for all of our students to come and have a pancake before school starts. We ask that you communicate any dietary requirements with your child's teacher clearly before Tuesday and if your child is unable to communicate his/her requirements clearly, that you stay with your child to make sure they get the correct pancakes.

HELPERS NEEDED:

We are looking for parents / carers who can help us serve a pancake breakfast to the students of Trinity Primary next Tuesday the 21st of February. We will start from 8am.

If you are interested in helping, please, click the link and fill in the form by Sunday 19/2/2023 if you can help.
