Be CURIOUS

A WOLLERT NORM

VALUES EDUCATION is a daily priority

We know our behaviours matter - what we say, what we do and what we think puts a spotlight on what we value. Our school culture is built around our motto 'Aspirations without Limitations' and our four values of Be BRILLIANT, Be CURIOUS, Be KIND and Be JOY.

Living these values everyday supports our staff and students to reach their individual potential but more importantly our community potential, being there for each other as we learn and grow.

Our focus on the brain and how it works aligns explicitly with each of our values. Our brain is the controller of all 'school traffic' and so remains a key focus in connecting our thoughts and actions to what we value day to day. What we value can be seen and felt by all.

Be CURIOUS

Our value of CURIOUSITY, among other behaviours, frames our 'WONDERING BRAIN'. Curiosity is exploring the gap between what we already know and what we want to know.

The behaviours and actions in which we support each other to explore and demonstrate CURIOSITY include  sharing puzzlement, inquisitiveness and awe. We spark and stretch our learning in our actions of questioning, challenging, wondering, hypothesising and considering possibilities.

Be CURIOUS achievement is celebrated and acknowledged across the school when we:

  • explore new ideas and thinking through an inquiry approach
  • use questions to be sure about steps on our learning path
  • consider other views and perspectives to build our knowledge and understanding
  • always look at our world and environment with a sense of wonder and awe
  • challenge our own thinking and that of others to boost learning
  • enjoy the beauty and wonderment our environment provides for us
