A Message from the Principal
Everyone has settled in beautifully this Term and there is a real calmness across the school. Introducig the GEM program of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness has enabled our students to build stronger friendships, share acts of kindness and be extra thankful for all that they have. I hope that you have been able to share your GEM thoughts and actions as a family.
Our new staff are bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge and joy to our staff team. We are introducing Alina Li and Amanda Hill on the Learning and Teaching page of the newsletter, so be sure to find out more. Thank-you to the parents who were able to come along to the Curriculum Information Evening. I hope that this was worthwhile and I would value any feedback from the evening.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone next Monday night at the Twilight Sports. This is an important event for all of our students, as they get to experience running on a real athletics track and trying a variety of track and field events. It is also a great night for the whole school community, so be sure to join us. The CA will be providing a BBQ on the night so we encourage you to support the fundraiser for Syria and Turkey.
Our First School Advisory Council Meeting for 2023 will be held tomorrow night, Tuesday 28 February. If you are interested in joining the SAC or finding out more please email me.
Future Leaders at St John's
Congratulations to all of our Future Leaders at St John's for semester one. They had their first meeting today, discussing their roles and responsibilities.
They will organise class meetings to share actions from the meetings and bring back new ideas from their classes. It is a great way that we are raising student voice at St John's.

Roblox
There have been some disturbing reports about some of the online games that our students are playing. I cannot stress enough the importance of knowing what games your children are playing and who they are chatting with online. The increase in popularity of Roblox is alarming, especially with the games and content that they can access. Please read the report on the Digital Technology page about what they are exposed to and how you can enforce your parental controls. A great website for more information is Inform and Empower. Please take the time to read their advice.

Outreach
Thank-you to those families who have been able to drop off meals for our Outreach Program. Please continue to send them in as we have a few families currently in need. At St John's we have a strong outreach group who supply food, meals, vouchers, transport and a helping hand. Please let me know if you can support in any way or if you are needing extra assistance at this time.
