School Council Meetings for 2019

September School Council (SC) Meeting Highlights

  • In addition to the Principal’s Report, we received updates from 9 out of the 10 subcommittees that had met prior to this meeting.
  • JSC continue their great work! Tayla and Kane represented Junior School Council (JSC) and informed us about the upcoming Free Dress Day (Friday Sep 20th) that will raise funds for State Schools' Relief, which helps with the cost of new school uniforms, shoes and other essential items for families who are facing hardship.
  • JSC also have plans in Term 4 to host a “Paint Your Nails Day” in support of the charity Polished Man, which raises funds for trauma prevention and trauma recovery programs for children who are at risk of or have suffered violence.  Shane Holloway is an ambassador for this foundation and will be assisting JSC with this event.
  • Four policies were ratified after being reviewed at the Education Sub Committee.
  • CHAPS and MOTHS continue their great work with numerous school community activities upcoming and updating us on their fundraising success from past events. Keep an eye out in the newsletter for Term 4 activities.
  • A Fair Committee is also being formed – please contact Christian if you are interested in joining.
  • The Publicity and Communications team have started reviewing the feedback from the Whole School Survey and will subsequently present their findings to the school staff, community and SC.
  • Paul Brock was a guest at our meeting this month and he joined Christian, Dale, Carol, Leigh and Shane in a NAPLAN workshop with School Councillors. This workshop provided us with an opportunity to review and analyse the NAPLAN data for the school.

Thanks again to the parents, teachers and additional school staff who participate in SC meetings and subcommittee meetings.

Our next meeting is on October 16th at 7:30pm and we will post the agenda items the week prior to this. Your attendance and feedback is always welcome – please see below for more details.
