Principal's Report
Every Student Matters
Our school will undergo a transformation in the next 12 months. Watch this space! In our next newsletter, I hope to share the plans taking shape for our new administration wing which will also house the VCE centre, and our refurbished old library space, which will become the 7 and 8 Student Resource Centre.
This week marks the end of the year for our VCE students. With the conclusion of Year 12 Exams, we will celebrate at Valedictory Dinner with students and parents. I’d like to wish our departing students the best of luck in their future.
Every Opportunity Taken
On the subject of transformation, we are about to conclude the 2019 academic year with exams happening for students in Years 9-11. I am pleased by the attitude and work of the senior students. We have Headstart next week for all students and 1:1 parent and student meetings to set up individual VCAL programmes. The next two weeks presents an opportunity for students to set new goals for their learning and reflect on their year.

Phone Ban
I would like to acknowledge the support we’ve had from our parents and students regarding the implementation of the mobile phone ban. We now have no issues regarding phone use where previously they were a constant distraction in the classroom and source of conflict between staff and students and a tool of bullying among students.
Unfortunately, social media use continues to impact students at home. I urge parents to become informed about social media and monitor their child’s use of social media. The Government has just updated the e-Safety Website, which contains information and advice for parents, young people and schools. It also contains a “report abuse” page to report cyberbullying, image-based abuse and illegal and harmful content. https://www.esafety.gov.au/report
