A message about Road Safety from our Local Police
Local Police from Torquay and Geelong Highway Patrol are actively patrolling all schools areas within the Torquay Township. This in relation to parents parking in and around the schools, along with speed zone enforcement. The purpose of the patrols is to ensure the safety of students of all ages and that they can attend to and depart school in the safest manner possible. Local police are committed to the safety of Students within the Torquay area.
Whilst parking issues may seem minor, the impact of vehicles obscuring roadways and preventing students having a clear line of sight in regards to oncoming traffic, have to potential for serious injury. Speeding through school areas also has the potential to result in serious injury and complying with reduced speed limits during school times, can mean the difference between avoiding a collision or having local students seriously injured.
2022 School Photos: Ready to Order!
Our annual school photos have been taken and are now ready to order!
Arthur Reed Photos uses an online ordering system where you can view your photos prior to ordering.
On photo day all students received a flyer which includes a code unique to them. You will require this 2022 code to register online and view your photos.
If you have already registered, you will receive an email or SMS from Arthur Reed Photos with a link to view your photos. If you have not yet registered, please go to order.arphotos.com.au and enter your code to complete your order.

Please note that you will need to register online with your 2022 photo code to gain access to this year’s images.

Conveyance Allowance Lodgement Dates 2022
Due to strict lodgement date criteria, late applications will be submitted in the following terms submission. Lodgements must be submitted to the college no later than 4:00PM on the due date listed below. Our Accounts Team will contact parents/carers regarding reimbursements once funds have been allocated to the college.

Term 3: Friday 19 August 2022
Term 4: Friday 18 November 2022

New College Hoodie Jumper Term Two
During 2021 the College listened to feedback from our students that they did not like the current hooded jumper design that is part of the active uniform. The material was not desirable nor the cut of the neckline. In collaboration with our uniform supplier, PSW, students chose a new design and material which was presented to the School Council for approval.

The Surf Coast School Stuff shop is closed from Wednesday (06 April) onwards until Easter and are re-opening on Tuesday 19 April.
There are a couple of options for families:
In store:
A family can purchase in store after Tuesday 19 April (first day back after the Easter break).
Or
Online:
Can be purchased on their website https://www.scss.shop/ and families may get free delivery and will be delivered within a 10 day window. Although the actual store will be closed, there may still be delivered during the Easter period.
Total price: $54.95
The current design will be phased out over time but will still be accepted as a uniform item. The original hoodie has been heavily discounted to assist with the remaining stock being sold.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund Applications
The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.
The payment amount this year is $225 for eligible secondary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
It is important that funding made available in 2022 supports students to participate in school trips, camps and sporting activities this year rather than being held for future years. This funding can also be used in conjunction with any funding accrued from previous years. Please note these activities will only take place if they meet COVID Safe requirements.
If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.

E-scooters
In cooperation and support with our local police, please take time to have a look at the attached flyer. This flyer will be handed out by police to students if they have been intercepted as a formal warning before adopting a zero tolerance approach in regards to E-scooters.

Sick Bay
If a student is feeling unwell, to keep in line with the Department of Education & Training's Mobile Phone Policy, students are required to go to the Administration Office where a trained First Aid Officer will provide assistance and call parents/guardians if they are too unwell to remain at school and need to go home.
Please note, that the school will only call parents/guardians in regards to an unwell child. The school will never send a text message to advise that their child is unwell and requires collection.

DET Mobile Phone Policy Reminder
In accordance with the Department’s Mobile Phones Policy issued by the Minister for Education, personal mobile phones must not be used at Surf Coast Secondary College during school hours, including lunchtime and recess (including in the Canteen for payments), unless an exception has been granted.
MYKI Card Reminder
An important reminder that students require a MYKI card with sufficient funds to cover their bus journey to and from the College whilst travelling on the below services:

T10: Ocean Views
and all public transport services.
McHarry's Buslines have advised that students may incur a $200 fine if they do not have sufficient funds or have a valid card.
Face Masks on Public Transport
Please note that the community are required to wear face masks whilst travelling on Public Transport.
