All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.                                                                                     Marylene Douglas

Mothers are pillars of the family structure. We often seek them for empathy and a listening ear in times of trouble. No matter who we grow up to be, or how far away we roam, sometimes we just need the affirmation of a mum’s gentle hug. Mother's Day offers the perfect opportunity to bless our mums and pray for them!

God has given us mothers to carry us, raise us, teach us, and mould us into godly people. Of course no mother is perfect, and not everyone grew up with a loving mother. But every mother out there — from the one who feels she was born to be a mum to the one who struggles with the title — deserves honour and praise for the role God has given her. A role that reflects God in a deeply profound way.

Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to offer this honour and love in word and deed, to show the extent to which we’re grateful for all our mothers and mother figures do, every day.

So let us pray:

MOST GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER,

We take a moment today to honour all mothers in our prayers, both living and deceased. We thank you for our natural mothers, our foster mothers, our grandmothers, our sisters, aunties, our heavenly mothers  and our “spiritual mothers,” those who may not have children of their own, nevertheless selflessly care for children of others of every age and in every state of life.

So Almighty Lord we pray, Blessed be all mothers who have come into our lives ,

Whose kindness, care and loving remain with us to guide your inspiration in us, make us strive in every way, and help us to remember  that helping others makes our day.

Thank you for the many life memories, advice, laughter, tears and song,

As I fold my hands and close my eyes I pray Dear Lord thank you for the wonderful mothers to whom we belong.

AMEN.

Wishing all mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures a blessed,  joyful and Happy Mother's Day!
