‘Harmony in Diversity’

During this month, we celebrated Harmony Day. This is a special time to help us think about what is most important.

Our society has changed over the years, decades, centuries. There are many parts of history that are best left behind.

These include prejudice, injustice, racism, bigotry and so many other negative aspects of life that we have known.

School values help us to bring focused teaching to our children regarding how to live in our diverse world.

Whether you believe in God or not, the ‘Golden Rule’ is the best one to follow when considering how to relate to others.

For me, this rule means that everyone deserves to be listened to, everyone deserves respect, everyone is important.

It doesn’t matter whether are tall or short, brown skin or pale, born in Australia or another country.

It doesn’t matter whether we walk or roll on wheels, run fast or slow, jump high or low.

It doesn’t matter whether our brain works fast or slow, or whether we can lift heavy weights or not.

It doesn’t matter whether our house is big or small, or whether we have lots of ‘stuff’ or just a little.

Whatever happens, U R IMPORTANT, VALUED, SPECIAL.

There are many things that happen these days that can make us question if we are indeed valuable people.

Remember this – you are unique. There is no-one else exactly like you – even twins have differences.

Enjoy being you. Accept who you are, and share that acceptance and enjoyment with your children.

Here is a great example of everyone belonging. Playgrounds can be fabulous places to have fun and enjoy the company of others. May you have many of these moments with your family as well.

Weekly Bakers Delight items available

Every Monday evening, I pick up leftovers from Bakers Delight to bring to school on Tuesday mornings. If you would like to receive my Monday evening email regarding the available items, please email me as below. I will then give your choice to your child.

Have a great school holiday break with your family. Stay safe and happy. This has been the first full term [for most of us] since 2019. May your Easter celebration be full of meaning and enjoyment. See you in Term 2.

Please feel free to contact me via Compass, or at school, if there is anything you would like to discuss I am here to support our school community with whatever is challenging us.
