Repentance, Patience & Growth

The above subtitle continues to be used this week particularly in light of the weekend's Gospel about what is commonly known as the parable of The Prodigal Son. I also view this Scripture as The Forgiving Father as he also assumes a vital role in this parable, one that represents our forgiving Father in heaven.

When we read or hear this parable, what is it that we are really 'listening' to? Do we listen to the plight of the younger soon, the anger of the older son or the forgiveness of the father. Three main characters, all with different view points, all experiencing something through different lenses. It provides us with challenges in our everyday life as we view many similar events and experiences, however it is how we choose to react to them that is most important. Do we look at these times for repentance, patience or growth?

Lent, like the parable of the Prodigal Son, produces provocation and controversy which challenges. Through prayer, we ask God to bless us and guide us in our thoughts and decision making during times where we encounter challenge and uncertainty.

Caritas Kilometres

Last week, the Mini Vinnies Team launched a fundraising initiative called 'Caritas Kilometres' which aims at raising funds for those in the Ukraine through the work of Caritas, a Catholic organisation which promotes events such as Project Compassion during the Lenten Season. The Mini Vinnies designed posters and spoke with students of each class explaining this special school event. A letter was also sent home to families outlining the event as well as including the sponsorship and donation form for each student. Please check your child's school bag for this letter.

Our quest is for students to collect funds with the help of their family and friends over the next few weeks which will then culminate in a walkathon around our school oval on the first day of school in Term 2, which also happens to be our Alleluia Day celebration rejoicing in the Risen Christ.

We would like the Caritas Kilometres to be a school community event whereby families are welcome to join us for the walk. Details about the walkathon timeline will be shared with families in the upcoming weeks.

Easter Raffle

Thank you to all our families for your generosity, sending along many Easter Eggs last week for the Easter Raffle. We will be able to create many prizes for the Easter Raffle draw. Easter Raffle tickets were sent home last week so we hope to raise funds which will contribute to our Caritas Kilometres fundraiser and emphasizes the act of almsgiving in an authentic way.

An Easter Egg Prizes Working Bee Letter was sent to families earlier this week asking for volunteers to assist in the development of the Easter Raffle Prizes. Please respond to this on PAM if you are able to assist.

Be nurtured and grow.
