From the Principal...

Michelle Bruitzman

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

What a crazy term it has been! So far this year we have been at school for learning, remote learning, and then back to classroom learning again. We have adjusted to new procedures, learned about social distancing and the BIG 3;

  • 1. Stay 1.5m apart,
  • 2. Wash hands regularly and for 20 secs and
  • 3. Stay home if unwell

I think I noted in last week's newsletter how resilient the students are at St Therese's. The students have been incredible as they have adjusted to school life in the midst of a pandemic.

To celebrate our crazy term, we are holding a PJ day on Friday 26th June. On this day, students and staff are invited to wear their PJs and bring along a gold coin donation. Our Social Justice Team is organising to raise funds for Project Compassion who look after the people in our community who are in financial hardship. Students need to bring along a warm jacket to wear outside and wear appropriate footwear (runners or closed in shoes). Slippers will not be permitted to be worn outside.

New Drop Zone on Endeavour Drive

Last Friday, the council installed signage on Endeavour Drive that prevents people parking outside the school at Drop Off and Pick Up times. This will assist us with our new Drop Zone to help move traffic quicker at these busy times.

To avoid being caught out in the Drop Zone parents are asked to adhere to the following;

  • Parents of students in Foundation, Year 1, Year 2 and their older siblings arrive no earlier than 3:20pm after school
  • Parents of students in Year 3, Year 4, and Seniors arrive no earlier than 3:40pm after school

Please do not park right outside the pedestrian gates if there is space in front of your car. Move up to allow other cars to park behind you. This will assist in keeping the Drop Zone area moving along.

Semester One Reports & Parent/Teacher Interviews

On Wednesday of this week, you will receive instructions on how to access your son or daughter's report for Semester One. These instructions will be emailed to you and a hard copy will also be sent home with your child in an envelope with their Self Reflection of their experience of remote learning. Please check your email details and ensure that the school has your up to date email addresses.

The Semester One Reports will be digital and will not be sent by post. The reports will only be accessible online. If you have any trouble accessing the reports, please contact the school office as soon as possible.

On Tuesday 28th July from 1:30pm till 8:00pm and Wednesday 29th July from 3:45pm till 5:30pm, we will be holding our Student-Led Parent/Teacher Interviews. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, these meetings will be held using Google Meet. You will be sent information on how to book a time slot and your child's teacher will then be in touch with you to provide a link for a Google Meet.

To assist us in facilitating these meetings, we ask if you are able to collect your child from school at 1pm on Tuesday 28th July. For parents who are unable to collect their children due to work commitments we will arrange for them to be looked after at school. More information regarding these interviews and the booking arrangements will be sent in Week 1 of Term 3.

Please find attached the Link to DOSCEL's 2019 Annual Report. You will note that on page 28 St Therese's is featured with an article about our 30th Anniversary.
