Principal’s Message

Sacrament of Reconciliation

We are almost halfway through the term in what remains a challenging time for us all.  Last Tuesday, children in Year 2 received the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.  Fr Anthony led a beautiful liturgy, explaining the importance of forgiveness through the grace of God.  It was wonderful to see how reverent the children were during the liturgy demonstrating they were well prepared by their teachers and supported by their parents. Thank you to Mrs Lockwood, Mrs Bearman and the staff who attended to support our students in this important step on their faith journey.

On Sunday 30th August Catholic students in Year 3 will receive the sacrament of First Communion at St Patrick's church. This year will be unlike any other, with restrictions on numbers and no celebratory morning tea after Mass.  However, the importance of the children receiving the blessed sacrament for the first time is not diminished.  We are challenged by the changes and disappointed that some of our community  and parish events cannot take place.  In saying that, I am very proud of the way the staff, parents and community are working together to minimise risk and support each other.  It is hard not to be able to have our parents and friends visiting the school but we appreciate your understanding and support by remaining outside the school gates.  Please continue to keep your children at home if they show any sign of illness for the benefit of the whole school community.

Have a wonderful week.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
