Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Online Teaching and Learning Update

Week 2 of round 2 remote online learning is nearly complete and everyone has continued to do an amazing job! It is really clear to see that students and families have really quickly found a great rhythm with learning, working and teaching from home.

It has been very pleasing to see that there has been significantly higher engagement levels in all year groups both being online and submitting work. Not only that but many of the teachers have reported higher quality of work submitted by students.

The general feedback we have received from families have also been amazing such as:

“We are having much greater success this time with my children completing tasks and being really engaged.”

“All the little changes are definitely making things run smoother for us.”
“The idea of children working in their colour groups at their level for reading, writing and math is great. They are needing less help.”
“My children have found the change in the instructional videos really engaging and helpful. It has really helped their learning.”
“The teachers are doing an amazing job with their follow ups and help.”
“The early finish Friday was amazing. After a full on week getting back in to it all, it was just what was needed!”

We hope the changes are having a positive impact on all of our families and we all thank you for your continued support!

Our remote online learning environment may never be perfect but we are always exploring ways to continue to improve what we do as a school in the best interests of our community. The feedback we get from students and families is an important part of this so thank you!

Wellbeing Wednesday’s Are Back!

Due to the resounding positive feedback from families around the Wellbeing Wednesday day we held last term during remote online learning, we have planned ahead to hold a couple of these days again in Term 3.

Wellbeing Wednesday dates:

  • Wednesday 5th August
  • Wednesday 19th August

These days have a strong focus on having a fun and innovative day filled with challenge and excitement for all students and families. The day will enable our community to celebrate the immense success students and our community have had and are having with learning and working online; provide an opportunity for us to reconnect and recharge with some exciting challenges; spend the day with significantly less screen time and need for devices.

Last time there were some spectacular creations and innovations, but most importantly everyone had a lot of fun doing it. Next week, all teachers will provide students and families with the Wellbeing Wednesday details.

I am looking forward to seeing and sharing some photos again of our community’s amazing innovations!

Don’t Forget Our Online Website

Please remember that we have a Home Learning website https://www.marambaonline.com

This is a great additional resource to provide our students and families, which can be accessed at any time. While these will support our student’s learning, they are not directly linked to the online teaching and learning program.

The links and activities are a little bit of extra fun and are completely optional.

There is a page for each subject area of our curriculum with a range of suggested educational sites, links or activities families can do together or students can do independently.

Have fun exploring and learning!

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
