Wellbeing

It’s already Week 8 and we are flying through the year.

We’ve had whole-school swimming, a camp, a science and a leadership excursion, a gambling incursion, and our Year 12s have been off to English lectures. A busy start to the year with many activities and adventures on the go. And yet we have much more excitement and learning to come in the second half of term as well.

Two weeks ago, our Culture Captain & SRC representative Em coordinated and ran our whole-school Clean Up Australia Day program. Em planned the prizes, the structure, the groups, and coordinated the assembly set up and finish on the day. Em spoke incredibly well and organised the day expertly and with aplomb. We look forward to having our captains and SRC leading from the front like Em for many future events.

Last week, we also had some of our student leaders front and centre. Chloe, Kate, Maggie, Maizy, Bridie, and Adelle represented the school during our International Women’s Day assembly. These students leaders planned, practised, and performed an outstanding presentation on the value, impact, and importance of celebrating this day. They also introduced our guest speaker, Danielle Grindlay, who also spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day from a different perspective. Our student leaders, led by Chloe, also baked cupcakes for the whole school with purple frosting (the official International Women’s Day colour). And (as expected) all students loved their celebratory cupcakes. We have recorded the presentation by our student leaders for those who could not make it to assembly and you can find the video below here:
