Student Leadership

Year 6 Leadership Day

On the 22nd February Lily, Mason and Bailey M together with Mrs Hausler and Mrs Shalders travelled to Horsham to take part in the Year 6 Leadership Day run by Lorin Nicholson. Lorin (who is legally blind) runs a program known as "Climb Your Own Mountain".

Lorin presented his 10 Keys for becoming a Great Leader, along with music and activities.

"My highlights were the key ring activity where we had to thread beads onto a cord whilst wearing vision impaired goggles. It was very hard especially when I worked out that one of my beads didn't have a hole all the way through it! The other highlight was the mint/choc chip ice-cream on the way home, thanks Mrs H."

Bailey M

"Using the goggles and walking around whilst being led by Mason was a highlight for me. It made me realise that impaired vision makes your other senses work much harder."

Lily

"My highlight was walking around by myself with the goggles until I crashed into a couple of things. I kept hitting my shin on the steps of the ladder of the slide when Lily was leading me around. The highlight was when I was being led by Lily and we managed to do some running. It made me realise that you have to trust your partner when they are leading you."
