Week 6 Term 1 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
Naplan
Our Yr 3 and 5 students will be undertaking Naplan testing over the next 2 weeks. This is 2 months earlier then previous years. For those parents who are unaware NAPLAN testing is one way that allows parents/carers and educators to see how students are progressing in literacy and numeracy over time – individually, as part of their school community, and against national standards. Larissa has put the timetable in the Deputy Principals section of this week's newsletter.
Before school
There are still some students who are arriving at school before the supervision time. Supervision for students commences at 8.30am.
Parish Picnic
Thank you to all the families who supported the Parish Picnic on the weekend. Fr John was very happy with the turn out. Thank you also to Ms Reed and the choir who sang 3 songs so beautifully. I know the audience were very entertained.
Visit by Richmond Football club
Yesterday Nathan, Kaelan and Robbie from the Richmond football club visited St Bede's. Children had the opportunity to have photos and sign autographs. The players also answered questions from the Yr 5/6 students. We thank the Richmond football club for the generousity of their time. The children loved it. So did the teachers ( secretly)
Uniforms
I thank families for ensuring their child/children are wearing the correct school uniform. Unfortunately we still have children who are wearing various items that are not part of the school uniform.
The most common observations include:
Runners being worn instead of school shoes on days they do not have Physical Education. Incorrect sock colour ( sports).
Random caps instead of a school hat.
Notes will be sent home to these children with phone calls to follow if incorrect uniform continues to be worn.
Swimming
Congratulations to Sebastian who made it through to division swimming. A great effort!!
We look forward to hearing more about your swimming achievements.
Playground Update.
I received an email yesterday from play safe that production has commenced on our new playground. It is expected to be installed in May. Once again thank you to the all the parents who contributed to the fundraising for this project. Part of the fundraising will also include new TV screens for the 3/4 and5/6 areas. These will also hopefully be installed in May.
