Student Report

We have had a few exciting events occur in the past couple of weeks.

The year 12 students were presented with the idea of legacy and how our past, our family, and our culture all determine our lives. This presentation was shared to the year 12’s by our wonderful wellbeing staff member, Dougy, who shared his past experiences, how he grew up with his large family, and how his past decisions have led him to be the man he is today.

We also just finished Barak week, planned by the Barak student leaders and Daniel G. The Barak captains and some Barak staff baked delicious cupcakes decorated with flags from different countries. On Tuesday to coincide with harmony day, we had a traditional smoking ceremony led by an elder from our local community allowing some of our indigenous students to help run the event. Following the smoking ceremony we had our cultural parade with cultural music, it’s always amazing seeing students representing their cultures.

We also had meet and connect, with wellbeing having some wellness activities that parents and students could participate in. We also had representatives from universities to share some information at meet and connect.
