Mini Golf Excursion & Construction

Students from the three Vocational Major Numeracy classes went on an excursion to Potion Putt, a mini golf course at Docklands. The day consisted of train travel to and from Southern Cross Station, a short stroll to the venue, lunch at Docklands and two hours of mini golf fun.

The excursion gave the students an appreciation of mini golf, how the holes were set out and positioning of obstacles. It is from this experience students will be in a much better position to design and construct their own mini golf holes.

And yes, there are many connections to be made between numeracy and mini golf design. We consider, perimeter, distance, area ,volume and costings and incorporate these into our future lessons.
