Sports Update

Polding Netball and Rugby League Trials

Ella Bruce, Paige Floyd and Fletcher Barratt travelled to Tamworth on the 28th April to try out for the Polding Netball and Opens Rugby League Team. Ella and Paige demonstrated excellent skills in all areas of the court and made it very difficult for the selectors. Congratulations to Paige who was chosen for Possibles and Probables. Fletcher played well all day, but unfortunately did not progress any further. Congratulations to these students for their hard work and sportsmanship. We are all very proud of you.

AFL

Thank you to Nikki Lee from the Glen Innes Celts and coaches, Khobi Devine and Matt Crawley for providing the opportunity for our students to receive excellent AFL coaching for Week’s 1 and 2 this term. Our students have learnt so much and have thoroughly enjoyed their sessions with Matt and Khobi. For those students who would like to further develop their AFL skills, the Celts are running skills sessions on Thursday afternoons at King George Oval. Flyers were sent home last week with more information about signing up.

Cross Country

Next Monday the 8th May we will hold our annual Cross Country event at the Glen Innes Golf Club. Students will arrive at school like normal in their sports uniform, and will be bused to the Golf Club at 9.30am. Upon arrival students will walk the course and then prepare for their races.

Thank you to those parents who have indicated they can help on the day. Information has been sent home with your child with further instructions. Please contact me if you have not received this.

The Lions Van will be operating on the day selling hot food and drinks. We will also have the coffee van, Betty’s Brew which will be selling hot coffee from 9.30am. Students will need to pack plenty of water and snacks for the day. If they are not buying their lunch, please ensure they have this packed.

We look forward to a great day of running! Keep your eyes peeled as I heard a rumour that even Mr McManus will be running!
