A message from our RFF teacher, Mia Moloney

We have been having lots of fun in Creative Arts in Stage 2 this term. We have been working to understand different cultures to influence our artworks.

We have looked at Aboriginal artwork and the importance of symbolism in Indigenous paintings. Students have created their own artworks that tell a story through the use of different symbols, paint techniques and shapes.

Students have been able to acknowledge that Aboriginal artists make artworks for different reasons and they can be interpreted differently by different people. Each student has recorded their own meaning of their creations.

We have been developing our understanding of connection between meaning and the subject matter in our paintings. We have specifically been focusing on the importance of the sky in Aboriginal culture and its ability to help navigate and hunt, to help understand the seasons, and to tell stories. Our artworks tell our own story about the sky using different symbols, painting techniques and colour.

We are moving onto learning about the history of weaving and its importance in South East Asian cultures. We love to listen to music to get our creative minds flowing!
