A message from Early Stage 1

School photos are coming up soon. Please return your child’s school photo envelope as soon as possible. It is important that all students wear their school uniform on photo day.

English

We are learning to:

  • hear and say the sounds /t/ and /a/
  • write the letters ‘t’ and ‘a’ using the correct formation
    • t - go straight down and then make a cross
    • a - start at the top, go round, up to the top and down again 
  • orally segment words containing three sounds; for example, /r/ /u/ /n/ makes ‘run’
  • hear and identify the sound at the beginning of a word 
  • hear and identify the sound at the end of a word
  • verbally compose a sentence

Mathematics

We are learning to:

  • organise objects into simple data displays and interpret the displays
  • count, record and correctly write numbers 1-10
  • show numbers in different ways

Integrated Learning

We are learning to:

  • understand that families have a past
  • understand that stories from the past may differ depending on who tells them 

Personal Development and Health (PDH)

We are learning to:

  • understand what confidence is
  • understand what it means to be persistent
  • how being persistent helps us to be successful 

Visual Arts

We are learning to:

  • use a range of materials (watercolours, droppers, salt) to create an artwork depicting the ocean

Upcoming events

Save the date: 

  • Friday 24th March - Colours for the Kids - SRC supported Ronald McDonald House fundraiser
  • Thursday 6th April from 10:15 am - K-2 Hat Parade on the pebbled area if weather fine or in the hall if wet

Further details regarding the above two events will be provided closer to the time.

Reminders

Please make sure your child’s belongings, such as hats and jumpers, are labelled clearly with their name.
