Harmony Day took place on Tuesday and it was an incredible celebration of diversity and culture! The school was buzzing with excitement as students and staff came together to showcase their unique identities and heritage. The day kicked off with a lively parade, where students proudly walked for their country, waving flags from all over the world. It was amazing to see the colours, costumes, and traditional dress from so many different countries, and the energy and enthusiasm of the students was incredible.
The festivities continued throughout the assembly with a range of amazing performances. We were treated to traditional dances and music items from the students and staff, including, Bollywood, Aboriginal, Pacific Islander, Māori, Torres Strait Islander, and Irish dancing accompanied by Viotti Strings. We also heard inspiring speeches from Mrs Bryan and Year 12 student Laura Poon who through sharing their own and their families’ experiences reminded us all about the value of diversity and acceptance. After the assembly, the fun continued into lunch, where we had incredible salsa dancers, Chloe and Carlos come and entertain us.
It would be remiss not to mention our wonderful tuckshop which gave students and staff the opportunity to sample delicious dishes from all over the world, including spring rolls, beef tacos and many more culinary delights. Harmony Day was an unforgettable experience for us and we loved watching our college community celebrate the unique identities and backgrounds that make us who we are.
