Celebrating Students

Yr 12 Biology

Year 12 biology excursion

On Thursday the second of March, the year 12 Biology students visited GTAC, the Gene Technology Access Centre. Here they developed their knowledge of DNA manipulation and the process of developing insulin for human use. Students genetically modified E.Coli bacteria to both naturally produce insulin, as well as added a gene to make that insulin glow under UV light to prove they had been successful.
