On the 24th of February, the Staughton College had it’s annual swim carnival.  The day was jam packed, with events, music and barbeque run by the VCE VM students. Staughton showed up and demonstrated their house spirit, with our new house system on full display for the Staughton community.

All kinds of swimming events took place, from freestyle and backstroke, to our highly popular novelty events, such as the kickboard relay. Our house leaders worked around the clock along with staff to get students involved in the events of the day, making relay teams and helping out with the novelty events. But at the conclusion of the day, only one house could be crowned the winner. Congratulations to Goruk Kuro (red house) for winning the day with 806 points. Close behind was Thara (green house) had 704 points, with Dantum and Djurt Djurt coming 3rd and 4th with 408 and 218 points respectively.

We had many successful students in the races. Congratulations to Ella Bristow (Under 13 girls), Zachary Connor (Under 14 boys), Cara Wilson (Under 14 girls), Spencer Davies (Under 14 boys), Mitchel Davies (Under 16 boys), Dakota Tan-Butesta (Under 17 girls), Jarrod Roe (Under 17 boys), and Tamara Henry (Under 20 girls) for their exceptional achievement in swimming.

Lastly, we’d like to thank all the staff involved and for their consistent support in putting these events together. A big thank you to Mr Scibberas, our sports coordinator, for coordinating the whole day.
