Cuberland has finally arrived at Tarneit Senior College. It is great to see so many young people get together and share their experience of the most popular puzzle in the world.
The Rubik’s cube was invented about 50 years ago, and it took its inventor one month to complete his very first solve of the puzzle. This could be longer than the time he spent inventing the puzzle.
A keen learner may easily learn how to solve a cube under 60 seconds using the basic method. We have quite a few cubers who can complete it in around 45 seconds.
A professional mat and timer can be bought from the cube stores, otherwise csTimer (a professional timing programme) is an excellent and free alternative that is available on the internet.
Tons of tutorial videos catering to all levels of solving the Rubik's Cube are found on YouTube. And if you happen to have a friend who plays the cube, learning directly from them is possibly the best idea. You could be such a friend to those around you. Imagine how cool it would be if you could solve two cubes together at the same time.
Get a cube and do some cubing today. Your brains will benefit from this practice and eventually you will benefit from expanding your brain in return.
What is Cuberland?
Cuberland is a term that I coined for our school lunch time activity, professional cube players are usually called speedcubers. The official organisation for worldwide speedcubing is WCA - World Cube Association.
What are some of the benefits of Cuberland and learning how to cube?

Cuberland will be run in second break every Monday in B6 through to the end of the year, and hopefully when the crowd gets bigger, we might move into a larger space like Open space B / stadium / auditorium.
