Procedural Writing Application Task for Technical Literacy

As an experimental lesson in Technical Literacy this week as an addition to the procedural writing unit we completed, students were asked to write recipes. Students were then required to cook the recipes that they wrote to ensure that these recipes made sense. 

They worked well together and cooked some amazing food! They did find they had to compromise a little due to the instructions and the teacher missing a couple of ingredients, therefore they also learned to think on their feet and become adaptable. This is always a useful skill to learn. The lesson went extremely well and we cooked for many students who had been drawn in by the amazing smell of the BBQ!!! 

It was a lovely way to finish the day and I was very pleased with their willingness to clean up the area afterwards.
