Principal's Report
Dear Families, Students and Community Members,
We have now completed Term 3, and I think it is important for students to take the time to congratulate and recognise themselves on the efforts that they have made to continue to learn and for families as a whole to congratulate themselves on the support they provide for both their children’s wellbeing as well as their learning. As students begin to prepare for term 4, their final term in their respective year level, its an opportunity to reflect on areas for growth and improvement as they begin to prepare for stepping into a higher year level in 2023.
GAT Completion:
On Wednesday 7 September, all Year 12 VCAL (Section A only) and VCE students and any Year 11 student studying a unit 3-4 sequence in VCE, or VET (Section A and B) were required to sit the GAT taking place in our Stadium.
Congratulations to all students who took part in the GAT this year. It was a new experience for all students with the new 2 part structure and for our VCAL students having to complete this for the first time under exam conditions in the Stadium with external supervisors, and a new challenge for our VCE and scored VET students who needed to complete the two sections and maintain their concentration and motivation levels over the duration of the day.
Year 12 Practice Exams and Term 4 arrangements in lead up to the Final exams
Congratulations to all Year 12 students and teachers who have completed all course work for Unit 3 & 4 and are now heading into the important revision and study period in the lead up to their final year exams.
All year 12 students will return at the start of term 4 on October 3rd and will begin a full structured practice exam week in the Stadium from Wednesday 5th October to Wednesday 12th October. This will be an opportunity for students to experience their final year exams in practise and test their current knowledge and understanding before the final few weeks of revision.
Following the practice exams, year 12 students will spend the next week and half working with their teachers on final exam preparation before they officially begin their first exam on Wednesday 26th October.
During exams, year 12 teachers will continue to be available to their students during class time up until the subject exam. Students can study onsite in the Library, with their teachers or at home.
COVID-19 isolation requirements have changed
Any student or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 must now isolate for a minimum of 5 days instead of 7. If they are asymptomatic, they may return to school on day 6. If they are symptomatic, they must remain in isolation until day 7. If they have symptoms after 7 days, they are strongly advised to stay home until their symptoms have resolved.
As an additional risk mitigation, the Department of Health strongly recommends that those leaving isolation wear a face mask when away from home, both indoors and outdoors, and when they cannot physically distance. Those leaving isolation on day 6 should wear a mask for 5 days but particularly the first 2 days. Those leaving isolation on day 7 should wear a mask for 4 days but particularly the first 2 days.
Those leaving isolation should consider taking a rapid antigen test before attending school.
Kind Regards,
