SSV Soccer - Regionals
On Monday the 22nd August some of the Year 5/6s girls went to Casey Fields in Cranbourne to play Southern Metro regionals soccer. There were 8 schools, we played 4 games and had one bye.
In the 1st game, we played against Narre Warren. We won and the score was 9-0. Our main stand outs of the game were Emi, Lexi, and Sophia L. These three players did well, because they communicated really well, they set up goals well and they shot goals well.
In the 2nd game we played Beaconsfield Primary and won 8-0. The other team played very well but we played even better. The star players were Erica and Lexi. Erica did a very good job helping the defence line and scoring goals. Lexi helped score many goals with amazing passing.
In the 3rd game, we played Morington and won 6-0. Everyone played well and had good sportsmanship but the star players were Stella with tackling the ball off the other team, Sophia L with assisting the forwards kick goals and Ella I with kicking the ball away to the other side.
During the grand final, we played Hampton Primary School, it was such an intense game. Some of our star players in that game were Paige T, Erica and Alexia. Paige T did a fantastic job defending our goals. Alexia took a very good free kick but sadly it was indirect and was not counted. Erica did an amazing job in the mid field protecting and scoring goals. Patricia and Sophia.D did a very good job in the midfield and defence passing and helping. The final score was 2 - 0 and we won, our whole team played amazing and we are very thankful for our parents who took the day off to drive us to Casey Fields in Cranbourne. Thank you to Chris Tsoukalas and Mr Kost for coaching, and congratulations to Hampton for coming 2nd place. The girls soccer team will be going to the Victorian State Championship.

Hoop Time
The clock was going down… “buzz!” I couldn't believe we were in the final.
I was warming up to be subbed on for Harry against St Columba’s. We were already beating them 8-2. Could I help my team? I was glad I wasn’t starting because I was a bit nervous. When the final buzzer went off we won 18-2 and I was happy that I played well and stopped them from scoring a few times. Even Mr Foott said “Ayman well done with your defending, you were great out there”. After the match Logan was saying to me, “I feel so cooooool” (like 1000 times after the match).
For our second game we played St James. They knew we were going to win from the start. We won 20-6, with me scoring 2 points. Our team was good, giving everyone a shot for goal and passing it around.
We versed St Joseph’s in our third game. They were calling Logan ‘little guy’ until we beat them 24-1, with Logan leading the team with 8 points.
Our fourth game was against St Columba’s again. We were pretty confident because we already beat them. I was starting this game with Harry, Ashton, Connor and Orlando. This game was harder but then they started to get tired and they gave up. We smashed them - the score was 22-4, and we were in the finals against St James.
We were in the finals against St James. I was on the bench against them with Ashton. Logan, Callan, Orlando, Connor and Harry started. We scored a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game and we looked good until they scored one. I came on in the second half and I intercepted the ball and ran up to the goal and I missed. I felt sad but I had to keep on going. I had another chance and I missed it. The buzzer went off and we won the finals 12-4. After the finals I saw my friend from my soccer team. This was the third time I saw him in school sports.
I was really happy at hoop time and I wish to go again and win the finals.
