Welcome to Grade 1/2 A with Mr Hayes

Learning in Grade 1/2A this term!

We have had and are still having a wonderful learning time throughout this term.

Our Inquiry continues to investigate our history and exploring the past compared to now. The student’s looked at some maps of Officer over the past decades to see how much it has grown and even the site of our school before and after it was built. 

Students also compared what Gumbuya World used to be like when Mr Hayes was just a boy with what it is now which was a terrific conversation starter and opportunity for the students to share their own experiences. 

In Literacy we have been exploring to genre of Informative Texts and their purpose. We have learnt about how these texts are to give us information and facts about certain things in our world. We have just started researching about an animal each student has chosen and have drafted a poster all about that animal.

Numeracy has seen us investigating time, number patterns and the link between addition and subtraction. We even made some giant clocks! The students have all embraced their learning experiences in these topics!

We’re really looking forward to finishing off the term strong and 

pushing our learning to the next level!
