And just like that Term 3 is done!

Congratulations and well done for surviving another jam packed term!

I believe that reflection is a very powerful tool. I often practice this with my students. Some of the language that we use is symbolic, and one of my favourites is “ROCKS and FEATHERS”

A “ROCK” is something that you have found challenging. Something that is heavy and might be weighing you down.

A “FEATHER” is something that should be celebrated. Something light and fun, that can lift you up and cheer you up.

This term has been quite a challenging term for many, staff included. However, reflecting back I can see so many “FEATHERS” too. There was so much to celebrate and enjoy.

Here are a couple of my highlights:

  • BREAKFAST CLUB
  • HOBBY CLUB
  • CARE GROUPS
  • GRADE 5 PEER MEDIATION DAY
  • BOOK FUN DAY
  • PING-PONG-A-THON

And yesterday I was lucky enough to go and have a COFFEE with a COP, to pass along all of the beautiful drawings and cards that our students made for the police force, who keep our city of Whitehorse safe. Just to honour them, and to say a very big thank you for all that they do in our community.

It really has been an incredible term. Reflection can be a wonderful coping mechanism as well. When we are facing challenges, when we are tired and worn out, our brains often go straight to the negative. When we feel overwhelmed, it is often our default to focus on the challenges instead of the victories. When we sit and think about it, we are able to make a note of all of the positives, and it can help us change our perspective. In fact it can change our whole outlook.

Thank you all for a wonderful term at BPS, we have such a fun, fantastic community.

I hope that you all have a lovely break over the school holidays, and I hope that you are able to find plenty of “FEATHERS”.
