Year Five/Six News

It has been a busy few weeks over in the Year 5/6 cohort but we would like to firstly congratulate Troy (S4) and his wife Tess on the safe and happy arrival of baby Billy Jack Watson! We look forward to meeting Billy one day soon and welcoming Troy back after the holiday break.

Over the past week we have been presenting our Integrated Studies projects to our peers and teachers. This term we focused on natural disasters, which included floods, bushfires, earthquakes, droughts and volcanoes. Each week of the term we studied a different natural disaster. Along the way we created a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation on our iPads and laptops to ensure all our learning and newly discovered knowledge was being documented in one place ready for our big presentations in Week 7. In Week 6 we focused on writing explanations based on one natural disaster we wanted to present as our 'expert' piece. All students did an amazing job presenting their projects to their peers and teachers. Teachers assessed the students final project and students gave feedback based on how well their peers were able to speak, deliver and present their expert natural disaster. A huge effort across all classes and something to be proud of!

Just a friendly reminder that next Tuesday 6th September from 12-7pm we are hosting our Student Led Conferences and would love to see as many families in attendance as possible. Please note that if you cannot make an available time on Tuesday please contact your child's classroom teacher to arrange an alternative day to discuss their learning and progress. It is such a busy time however we would love the opportunity to touch base and celebrate all the fantastic work your child is doing in the classroom.
