MANA – SPIRIT OF POLYNESIA
All Year 8 students participated in a performing arts activity in the Theatrette where they enjoyed a performance based on the Polynesian Islands. It was inspirational and involved lots of audience participation! The dance students were able to extend their experience by taking part in a workshop with Bernard.
Polynesian workshop with Bernard - student feedback
Recently we watched a performance and participated in a workshop with Bernard. We really enjoyed learning about the Polynesian multicultural dances and the stories that he told us. Bernard performed to all of Year 8 and then did a dance workshop in our class. We got to use the “Poi” and the “bamboo sticks”. It was really fun to learn Hawaiian and NZ dance moves.

I really enjoyed the cultural dance workshop with Bernard. It was really fun and easy to learn the movements. I enjoyed experiencing other cultures and their dances. We got to learn the Poi dance and a Hawaaiian bamboo stick dance which were both really fun.
