Blue Edge Program
BLUE EDGE PROGRAM UPDATE
The ten students selected to participate in the 8 week Blue Edge Program continue to enjoy the sessions, building mutual respect between youth and police, recognising individual strengths mentally and physically and empowering good decision making. They are building friendships with the thirteen Mooroopna Secondary school students in readiness for the 2020 school year.
When back at school, the students often reflect on their time at Blue Edge. Last week they completed an art class and constructed ceramic poppies for our Anzac and Remembrance ceremonies. This week they produced an “I Am” poem…
I am a Blue Edge participant
I am in Year 8 and a spirited teenager
I wonder if my fitness will improve
I hear lots of laughter
I see kids in blue tops from other schools
I want muscles like ‘the Rock.’
I am a Blue Edge participant
I pretend I am good at everything
I feel proud
I touch lots of gym equipment
I worry that people are looking and judging
I cry when I think about the program ending.
I am a Blue Edge participant
I understand this will be life changing
I say ALL kids should have this opportunity
I dream to be fitter, healthier and wiser
I hope to graduate and to be chosen for camp
I am a Blue Edge participant.
