Year 9 Off to a Flying Start

The Year 9 cohort have had a great start to the year. Our current theme in Learning for Life is ‘Our World’.  As part of ‘Our World’ we have studied the film Lion, directed by Garth Davis and have completed many class activities based on the themes of the film, including our first essay for the year. We are now delving further into the science and environment aspects of ‘Our World’, we have looked at a number of different countries who are less fortunate than we are, and are starting to investigate different energy sources. All of this is helping to broaden our understanding about the world we live in. Outside of Learning for Life, the year kicked off with a bang thanks to the annual Swimming Carnival. It was a great day that saw people compete in different events, dress up in their house colours and support each other. The day was filled with swimming, dancing, laughter and encouragement, which made it an awesome day. Year 9 has started really well and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

Year 7 Camp

On Wednesday morning,  228 Year 7 students and 22 staff left for Year 7 Camp at CYC Phillip Island. Students enjoyed a variety of different activities, with many of them conquering the heights of the Giant Swing and Flying Fox. On both Wednesday and Thursday afternoon everyone went down to the beach at Erehwon Point for some time in the water and beach games. The highlight of our time at the beach was the annual Tug of War competition, with 7I being crowned champions - congratulations to Mrs Mitchell and 7I! The disco and karaoke competition on Thursday night was full of excitement and everyone enjoyed dancing the night away!
