Welcome back to Term 2, a short and busy term this year.
Term 2 brings new challenges for the Senior Sub School with more SAC preparation, more outcomes to be ticked off and upcoming exams.
RESN
On the 23rd of April, The Regional Education Support Network and Telstra visited our campus to share the incredible resource that they can provide to our students. RESN is a free, personalised tutoring service that provides educational resources for regional students. Students were very impressed with the presentation and are eager to access this resource. Students and their parents/guardians can access this resource by visiting the RESN website and following the links.
Practice GAT on Curriculum Day – Thursday 18 May.
The General Achievement Test (GAT) is a very important assessment for our year senior students. There is a new format in 2023 which requires all students in year 12, as well as all students in year 11 who are accelerating into a year 12 VCE subject, to sit the GAT. The practice GAT will run on Curriculum Day (18th of May) with timing for the assessment as follows:
Section A: Literacy (Reading and Writing) and Numeracy
50 Multiple Choice Reading Questions
50 Multiple Choice Numeracy Questions
One writing task
8.45am Assembly outside the Gym
8.55am Students enter gym for exam
9.00am Reading time for exam
9.15am Writing time commences
11.15am Finish of part A
Students will have a break from 11.15m until 1pm. The school canteen will not be operating on this day, so students will be given permission to leave school grounds during this time to access shops for lunch. Students will be required to use appropriate crossings during this time.
Section B: General Knowledge and Skills
25 mathematics, science and technology multiple choice questions
25 arts and humanities multiple choice questions
One extended writing task
1.00pm Students to assemble outside gym for rollcall
1.10pm Students enter gym
1.15pm Reading time
1.30pm Writing time commences
3.00pm Finish of Part B
Students will be given additional information via assemblies at school and Google Classroom to ensure they are prepared for the practice GAT to run at school.
Progress Reports
The next round of progress reports will be made available to you soon. These reports are a great way to see how your student is performing and provide an ideal opportunity to encourage your student/s to have discussions with their teachers about how improvements in results and learning behaviours can be made throughout the term.
