Assembly
Next week we will be holding a Morris Assembly in The Farrall Centre. The assembly will commence at 2.15pm on Monday afternoon. We welcome families to attend.
Kindergarten - Earthcare Excursions to Taroona Beach
Mondays 15 and 22 May & 19 and 26 June
Kindergarten Earthcare days will largely be on Mondays this term. Please remember that on these days, children will need a spare change of clothes (labelled with their names), gum boots, a rubbish free lunch, and to be dressed appropriately for the weather forecast.
Year 2 - Outdoor Education Excursion - kunanyi/ Mt Wellington
Wednesday 17 May
Year 2D students will be going on an Outdoor Education excursion to follow the path water takes from its source to the sea and to explore some of the impacts that may have on marine ecosystems. The students will follow the North West Bay River from its source on kunanyi/Mt Wellington all the way to its mouth in Margate. Parts of the journey will be on foot, other parts will be on a bus. Year 2 class teachers will accompany their classes with the assistance of Morris Outdoor Education Teacher Lauren Stranger. We will depart school at 9.00am and return to school by 3.00pm. Students will need to wear warm clothes on this day, this includes a warm jumper (wool, polar fleece or puffer jacket), warm pants (track pants or fleece pants), beanie, gloves and a waterproof raincoat as it could be cold. As we will be away from school for most of the day, students will need to bring a large packed lunch (no lunch orders), snacks and drink from home as well as any required medications for the day. Could parents please update Operoo if necessary.
Morris Cross Country - Years 3 - 6
Thursday 18 May
The Morris Cross Country Carnival for Years 3 - 6 students will take place on Thursday 18 May at our Bell Street Ovals commencing at 12.30pm. Students will walk down to Bell Street after first break. Families are invited to attend. Please note that access to the carnival is via the Queens Walk driveway. All events will be concluded by 2.40pm with students travelling back to school by bus where they will be dismissed as usual at 3.15pm.
Approximate race times:
Year 4 - 12.30pm (boys) and 12.45pm (girls)
Year 3 - 1.00pm (boys) and 1.15pm (girls)
Year 5 - 1.30pm (boys) and 1.45pm (girls)
Year 6 – 2.00pm (boys) and 2.15pm (girls)
In the event of unsuitable weather conditions, a decision to cancel will not be made until 9.30am on the day.
Year 3 and 4 co-curricular training for soccer and netball WILL NOT take place after the carnival.

Year 3 OE Excursion - Mt Field National Park
Friday 19 May
On Friday 19 May, as part of our Outdoor Education program, all Year 3 students will be visiting Mt Field National Park. The bus will depart at 9.00am and return by 3.00pm. The bus will drop us off at the visitor centre and we will walk through the forest exploring the vegetation and waterfalls. We will make connections with our Unit of Inquiry about how people explore, explain and create to understand the world. Students will be required to wear their PE uniform and carry in their backpacks an additional warm jumper, waterproof raincoat, hat, beanie, drink bottle, lunch and snacks. Please make sure students come with sufficient warm clothing and food and water for the day. There should be no lunch orders. Lauren Stranger, our Outdoor Education Teacher, will be accompanying us. Please complete the permission form in Operoo and ensure your child’s details are up to date.
Kindergarten to Year 4 Growing Up Program
Monday 22 - Thursday 25 May
Growing Up – a relationships, sexuality and protective behaviours program will be run by Family Planning Tasmania starting on Monday 22 May. There will be a parent information session for the Kindergarten to Year 4 parents on Monday 22 May at 8.30am - 9.00am in the Morris Library. The program will be presented to Years 5 and 6 students (and a parent information session) later this term. Please find a copy of the program here. Absentees
If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Morris Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: morrisadmin@friends.tas.edu.au ) and the classroom teacher before 9.00am. We appreciate your support in this process.
