What a great second term we have had.  It has been very exciting to move into our new premises at Robert St, which came with many challenges and change for us all.  Change is something that most people struggle with but our students have managed to handle these adjustments well and have continued their learning with minimal disruption.  We have held a couple of special days this term that were run with assistance from our wonderful Student Ambassadors and with great success.

IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism & Transphobia).  IDAHOBIT is held on 17 May, as it marks the day that the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases. This occurred as recently as 1990. To celebrate the students come together in bright and colourful clothing and participate in some mindfulness activities including nail painting, colouring, bracelet making and finished off with cupcake eating.  It was a great turnout and so much fun to see everyone coming together and highlighting inclusivity for all.

Our students also participated in Reconciliation Week and met as a group for National Sorry Day.  We listened to our students discuss the significance of this day and acknowledged this year’s theme as “Be a Voice for Generations”, Act today for a reconciled tomorrow.   Peter Lalor Secondary College is proud to ensure our students learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to ongoing reconciliation.
