Auslan

National Simultaneous Storytime - this event brings kids together in libraries, schools and homes around the country to read an Australian picture book at the same time.

Last week we watched The Speedy Sloth translated into Auslan.

We now know the sign for 'Sloth' and many other new signs from the book.

We followed a set of signed instructions to draw the Spike the Speedy Sloth ourselves!

It was finally time for the event of the year,
Spike couldn’t believe it—THE GREAT RACE was here! The other sloths said it couldn’t be done, but Spike didn’t care, she was ready to run!

Music

PRODUCTION -

Singing, Acting and Rapping auditions for our Grade 4-6 production (written by Mr. Marsh from White Hills, his talented wife, Lou, and Mr. Mayes) have started and will continue until the end of term. Students can get more information here:

Grade 3-6 students have continued to work on our Independent Instrument program, transitioning to their second instrument. We have already seen some amazing improvements in skills and many songs and riff learned.

Grade 1/2 students have continued to learn about genre and we have been conducting weekly "Genre Battles", pitting two obscure genres (like Liquid Funk Vs Hard Techno) to see which they like best. They have also been extending their ukulele skills so that htye can play many real songs.

Finally, Prep students have been learning about pitch, high and low notes, making sounds and movements to match each.

Visual Arts:

Skills, skills and more skills over the past week in the art room. If you are in and around the school this week, please swing by the student gallery, there is so much work on display that we would love to share with you all. With only a few weeks left before the term is out, our students will once again be diving into a prac week block to put their new found skills to the test and get creating once again.

You may not know but some of our year 4 students are in the process of entering their very first online exhibition, the Incognito Art Exhibition. The exhibition and gallery aims to provide a wide range of artists the opportunity to have their work sold to art lovers in Sydney in secret. The identity of the artist stays hidden until an artwork is sold, ensuring that the work is bought for the love of what it is. For those that art entering, you have 2 weeks left to create the work before it is sent off. For more information head over to incognitoartshow.com
