9/10 Loddon Mallee Tennis in Mildura
On a chilly morning, five Years 9 and 10 students, along with Makenzie and Mr Hill, left Church Street at 5.20 am to head off for Loddon Mallee Tennis in Mildura. On the way the students were full of excitement, playing music to pump themselves up for the day. After our first toilet stop things became a bit quieter, with some students nodding off. When we arrived in Mildura at around 10am the students warmed themselves up with some rallies.
The first round was against Castlemaine. They were a tough group which proved a challenge for the team. They fought as hard as they could with some of the games being quite close, but ended up losing.
Whist they had a break, the team checked out their competition, Irymple, who were playing Castlemaine. They took to the court in their next round with excitement and were determined to win to put them in second place. They started off with their singles winning three out of four matches. Moving on to doubles, they came away winning both matches, placing them in second.
The team should be proud of the way they conducted themselves. They played some tough opponents, but always stayed focused and positive towards their teammates, opponents and officials. Well done team!!
Cross Country
St Augustine's Years 5-12
It was a great day out last Friday at the Kyabram Parkland Golf Club for our St Augustine's Years 5-12 Cross Country. The 3km track created by Mr Hill, then marked out by Pete Fawcett on his handy golf cart, was a challenge, but everyone participated to the best of their ability.
When students crossed the finish line they earned house points, or for some a ribbon, and for the extra determined few, an age champion medal! Standing at the finish line there was a sea of red faces and big smiles as runners finished the 3km course.
At the end of the day, Delany came away with the win. The 5-8 Delany House Leader, Archer, accepted on behalf of his house alongside the other 5-8 Delany House Leader, Olivia!
A big thank you to all the staff who played their part in organising the day and a shout out to Mr Hill for all his preparation in the lead up to the day!
Campaspe Division
Selected Years 4-6 students competed in the Campaspe Division Primary Cross Country yesterday at Jack Eddy Oval Moama. They all did wonderfully and represented our school with pride! Congratulations to the students who finished in the top 12 runners in their age group to move through to the regional cross country in St Arnaud.
Our Years 7-12 representatives headed to Echuca College today to compete in the Secondary Campaspe competition. More information about these events will be available in the next newsletter.
